And back for Lotusphere 2009: We’re sub-dividing the sessions in the JumpStart track into the traditional, technology-oriented sessions, and a whole set of product-oriented “QuickStarts” for the new products that you’ve ask for extra training on. “Traditional” JumpStart sessions will continue to cover important tools and technologies, the QuickStart sessions will be immersion-style overviews of newer Lotus products, focusing on features and functionality.

Sessions will begin on Sunday, January 18th, and are two hours in length

Track One:  Futures and Innovations
Audience: IT, MIS and business managers and architects, developers and administrators of all levels
Back with even more for Lotusphere 2009, this track concentrates on the brand-new, “hot-off-the-press” technologies and innovations coming from the IBM and Lotus Research labs and engineers, including exciting new technologies and glimpses of the future from industry gurus. With “sneak peeks” at every turn, this track will be full of sessions that you won’t be able to see anywhere else, we promise!

Track Two:  Application Development
Audience: Developers of all levels
This year’s App Dev track is once again focused on enhancing the efficiency of developers so that you can be more successful with your applications in less time. With every Lotus tool, there is exciting news about improvements, from visual development to easing the integration between Lotus collaboration products. You’ll see how it’s easier than ever to create new applications and update existing applications while at the same time making them attractive and lightening fast. You’ll find a broad selection of sessions about application development tools and technologies for Lotus Domino, and beyond with WebSphere Portal, Lotus Quickr and Lotus Connections. You’ll leave with lots of ideas, helpful hints and new skills to make your applications better than ever!

Track Three:  Planning and Managing Your Collaboration Infrastructure
Audience: System architects, administrators and integrators of all levels
Sessions in the Infrastructure track tell you the “what’s what” of the “how-to”. These sessions dive deep into product architecture, features and capabilities, deployment, as well as system management topics such as administration, directory, security, and performance. You’ll pick up top tips straight from the developers who wrote the code, product managers, or ‘in-the-field’ experts. Whether it’s Lotus Notes and Domino, Lotus Quickr, Lotus Connections, WebSphere Portal, or Lotus Sametime, you’ll find the ‘how-to’ and the ‘when and why’ right here.

Track Four:  Best Practices

NEW!  Show ‘n Tell Sessions
Audience: Developers and administrators of all levels
Due to the enormous popularity of the Lotusphere Hands-on track, we’ve reworked it to expand the audience far beyond what we were able to accommodate in previous years.  The new Show ‘n Tell track is designed to bring you classroom-style technical presentations, complemented by a hands-on sandbox where you can run through the exercises after the session at your own pace using virtual machine environments supplied by the presenters. Simply put, the Show ‘n Tell  track will be a fast track to your education on a single topic. From start to finish, with picture by picture screenshots that you can take home with you and use to set up your own environment.  All sessions will adopt a teaching approach with heavy emphasis on documentation and the supporting hands-on labs. Successful candidates for the SNT track must be both presenter and trainer in creating a session that will have a high level of detail with step by step screenshots and documentation.  If you’d like to submit an abstract, think like an attendee – what class would YOU love to attend at “Lotusphere High”. Would you like a screen by screen session on clustering, xPages, Web Services?

If your session is selected, you would start with your demo on screen – following your own documentation and giving everyone everything they need to work through your exercises later. Would you be able to explain it and evolve your explanation throughout the session?  Would you be able to build a demo that can be supplied as a VM for use in the hands on labs?  This is an exciting (for attendees)  and demanding (for presenters!) new track we expect to be very popular and is your chance to share your expertise directly.

Business Development Day

Birds-of-a-Feather Sessions
Audience: Any and all Lotusphere attendees

Come one, come all! Birds-of-a-Feather sessions are a popular feature of Lotusphere, bringing together communities and individuals with similar interests. These sessions are informal, interactive discussion groups for like-minded attendees to share ideas and experiences in an small group, open forum setting. Feel free to submit topics that interest you, that you would like to lead, or topics and discussions that you’d like to participate in! Once again, due to last year’s success, Lotusphere attendees will vote and choose the best, and those topics will make the cut – so make your submission a good one!
The Lotusphere Team is ready to help you get your customers and IBM Business Partners registered in record numbers.  As always, thank you in advance for helping to make this Lotusphere another tremendous success.
